The Woodland Fire & EMS Special Operations Division is equipped with advanced tools and technology to respond to the most challenging and complex emergencies our community may face. From missing person searches deep in the Pine Barrens to wildland fires in remote areas, our team utilizes a combination of cutting-edge equipment—including Drone 29, UTV 29, and our state-of-the-art Special Operations Trailer—to enhance our capabilities in the field. These specialized resources allow us to operate effectively in difficult terrain, maintain real-time situational awareness, and coordinate large-scale responses with precision and speed. Backed by community support and the latest innovations in emergency services, our Special Operations Division stands ready to protect and serve Woodland Township and the surrounding region whenever and wherever we are needed most.

Drone 29

DJI M30T Thermal Drone

Drone 29, our DJI M30T thermal imaging drone, is a cutting-edge tool that plays a vital role in enhancing the capabilities of Woodland Fire & EMS. Equipped with high-resolution thermal imaging and zoom capabilities, this drone allows us to quickly cover large areas during search and rescue missions, especially in the vast and often inaccessible wooded regions of our township. Whether locating missing persons, tracking heat signatures from hidden wildfires, or assessing dangerous situations from a safe distance, Drone 29 provides critical situational awareness that helps save lives and protect property. With its ability to operate in low-light and nighttime conditions, as well as during severe weather, Drone 29 extends our reach and effectiveness far beyond what’s possible from the ground alone—making it an essential asset in modern emergency response.

UTV 29

2025 Polaris Ranger XP1000

UTV 29, our 2025 Polaris Ranger XP1000, was proudly acquired through the generous support of the Haines Family Foundation and has become an essential resource for our emergency operations in remote terrain. Outfitted with a QTAC EMS-R Skid Unit, this vehicle allows for safe and secure patient transport from areas that are otherwise inaccessible by ambulance or traditional apparatus—an invaluable asset for rescues in the deep woods and off-road trails throughout Woodland Township. Additionally, UTV 29 is equipped with a QTAC 85S Trailer Mounted Firefighting Skid Unit, featuring an 85-gallon water tank and pump system, enabling our crews to access and suppress wildfires in areas where even brush trucks cannot reach. This all-terrain utility vehicle expands our ability to respond quickly and effectively in challenging environments, improving both rescue and fire suppression capabilities.

Special Operations Trailer

Mobile Command Center

Our 26-foot Special Operations Trailer serves as a fully equipped mobile command post, designed to support complex incidents and large-scale emergency operations across Woodland Township and beyond. Custom-built for versatility and resilience, the trailer features a dedicated conference room, multiple computer workstations, and both interior and exterior monitors capable of displaying live video feeds from drones and other field cameras. Redundant communications systems—including high-speed Starlink satellite internet and advanced radio networks—ensure uninterrupted connectivity even in remote or disaster-impacted areas. At the heart of the trailer’s command capabilities is a server system running ATAK (Android Team Awareness Kit), a powerful geospatial tool that provides real-time GPS navigation, mapping overlays, and shared situational awareness for all personnel involved in an operation. Whether managing a prolonged search and rescue effort or coordinating firefighting operations, our Special Operations Trailer provides the critical infrastructure needed to maintain control, communication, and coordination in the most demanding environments.
